Pickup truck crash sends 1 to hospital


Photos submitted A single-vehicle crash sent one man to the hospital on Monday. Roy Long was flown out via helicopter after his Ford F 150 left the road near the eight-mile marker on KY 987. According to Harlan County Rescue Squad 1st Lt. Scotty Moore, the pickup left the road and struck a tree. “We responded to take the door off the truck for the ambulance service,” Moore said. Moore explained when they arrived at the scene, they were able to get the man out without cutting into the vehicle. Long was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment. Kentucky State Police, Harlan EMS, Johnson’s LifeCare and Harlan Towing and Recovery responded to the scene.
