Emily Ann Roberts will headline the Saturday entertainment at the 61st annual Poke Sallet Festival. The concert will take place at 9 p.m. on the main stage in the festival area.
Emily Ann Roberts finished runner-up to Harlan County native Jordan Smith on The Voice Season 9.
“The Poke Sallet Festival Steering Committee is very excited to welcome Emily Ann to Harlan. Watching her journey on The Voice Season 9 along with one of our own, Jordan Smith, was a blessing to Appalachia! She is a talented musician and we are excited to see her music career continue to develop as well and are thrilled she will be with us here on the Main Stage on Saturday,” said Dan Mosley, judge-executive and festival co-coordinator.
Emily has a passion for classic country and bluegrass and has wanted to pursue music since picking up a guitar at age 13. She and her grandmother are the only ones in her family who sing and her greatest memories are when they would sing old hymns together. After her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Emily started taking music very seriously.
For the past three years, she has been playing steadily around Knoxville, performing regularly at a local restaurant and busking on the side. She feels that today’s country has lost some of its soul and is hoping to introduce classic country to a new generation.
