The Center Stage Players of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College will host auditions for The Jack Tales, beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Godbey Appalachian Center Theatre on the Cumberland campus.

The Jack Tales is comprised of five different tales. These Appalachian folk tales have Jack as the ‘hero,’ always winning at the last moment in any situation that occurs. Jack usually wins by either blind luck or a certain bit of folksy humor and wisdom.

The tales include stories Soap, Soap, Soap!, Cat ‘N Mouse, The Old Sow and the Three Shoats, Jack and the King’s Daughter and Jack and the Robbers.

Through the years Jack and the Robbers has been one of the more popular presentations. Jack rescues several animals and they find an abandon house and take it as their home. They must fight the Robbers who live in the house to be able to keep it.

The cast will include Jack, Story Teller, Gladys Johnnie, Willie, the Old Sow, Three Shoats, a donkey, a cow, a rooster and the list goes on.

All ages are welcome to audition.

Plays will be presented on June 29 and 30 as well as July 1.
