Nominations sought for leadership awards

This year’s East Kentucky Leadership Conference will take place April 28-29 at the Morehead Conference Center in Morehead, Kentucky. The theme for this year’s conference is “The Next Big Thing is Really Small,” presented by the Morehead State University Center for Regional Engagement, East Kentucky Small Business Development Center and the Kentucky Innovation Network.

MSU’s program developing “really small” micro-satellites will be featured along with other technological drivers of the new economy developing in eastern Kentucky.

The conference will bring people from Eastern Kentucky together to network, share ideas and create a unified front to address the problems facing the region. Any person or group aspiring to take on a leadership role in eastern Kentucky is encouraged to take this opportunity to meet with other leaders from the region.

“This conference is a great place for people from all walks of life to come together to learn about important issues in the region, share their own perspectives and help think about solutions,” said Peter Hille, board chair of the East Kentucky Leadership Foundation. “The conference isn’t just for elected officials or recognized leaders, it’s for everyone. We call it a leadership conference because everyone can exercise leadership by taking part in building a brighter future for our region.”

The two-day conference begins with registration at 8 a.m. on April 28 and goes through Friday. The cost for early registration for one person is $35 or $50 for couples. Early registration for students is $10. Participants can register online at .
