Harlan County Sheriff Leslie “Smitty” Smith and Kentucky State Police Post 10 Commander Phillip Burnett Jr. were recently presented copies of Foreign Blood by author W. Bruce Ayes (penned as Will B. Ayers) and Professor Allen Layne, who served as the law enforcement advisor for the novel.

“I wanted to give copies of the book to the sheriff and Post 10 commander since Foreign Blood is a fictional account of individuals who hold those same positions,” said Ayers.

In addition to being recognized as a gripping international mystery set primarily in the Appalachian mountains of Harlan and Letcher counties, Ayers noted that Foreign Blood demonstrates how local sheriffs and the state police can work together.

Foreign Blood is available locally at Buffy’s and Frank’s Christian Bookstore in Cumberland, Kilgore’s in Evarts, Harlan ARH Hospital’s gift shop in Harlan, and the Fire House Gift Shop in Lynch. It can also be purchased at Amazon.com, in paperback or an e-book.
