The Barter Players will visit Lee County on Jan. 7 to stage ‘My Imaginary Pirate’ by Catherine Bush at Lee Theatre in Pennington Gap, Virginia. The play is especially for students from kindergarten- through sixth-grade.

Ticket prices are $15, adults; $10, seniors; $5, students; and children 5 and under are free.

Jesse McCall is having trouble making friends at his new school, but in spite of that, he isn’t lonely: He’s too busy going on adventures with his imaginary pirate, the Terrible One-Eyed Jack.

Jesse and One-Eyed Jack are determined to find the buried treasure, but they discover trouble along the way when the outlaw pirate, Red Legs Ricky, steals their treasure map.

A high-seas adventure ensues, and Jesse soon realizes that friendship is the greatest treasure of all. This is a heart-warming story showing the power of imagination.

The performance is presented by Pro-Art Association as part of the Lee County Cultural Arts Series and the program is partially supported by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
