Harlan County Christian School will present Mark Twain portrayed by Stephen Hollen — a humorist, storyteller, performer, writer, poet and Mark Twain impersonator — for a night of educational family fun and entertainment.
The performance is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Harlan County Christian School gymnasium. An optional spaghetti dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Hollen became a “Twainiac” some time ago when he began to read Twain’s books. The irony and wit, which Twain had as a humorist when he appeared on stage, shows forth easily in his speeches and lectures.
His early influences as a humorist arose from his childhood in the hills of eastern Kentucky and his love for the richness of humorists such as Twain and Will Rogers.
Hollen now resides in Beaver Creek, Ohio. He has already performed in six different states this year.
Tickets are available at the school or the Harlan Center. Dinner and performance tickets are $15, adults; $10, children 12 and under (due to limited space, dinner tickets must be purchased in advance). Performance only tickets are $10, adults; $5, children 12 and under (may be purchased in advance or at gate).
