BIG STONE GAP, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will host its First Saturday Community Coffee House on June 4 from 7-9 p.m. Jim Gates will serve as the featured host for this month’s Coffee House.
Jim Gates was raised in Glade Springs, Virginia and now resides in Duffield, Virginia. He has been playing country and gospel music for more than fifty years. Having performed on stages scattered throughout the Eastern United States. His music is presented in a balladeer style with a joyful sprit and strong desire that each song message is clearly understood. Also, over the years he has performed with several nationally known Nashville recording artists.
The First Saturday Community Coffee House is an open-mic event and is open to all family-friendly performers. All interested musicians, storytellers, and poets should arrive by 6:30 p.m. for sign-up and scheduling. Admission is free to this program. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
