Bears compete in state XC meet

The Harlan County High School girls cross country team ended the season with a 19th place finish in Class AA at the state meet in Lexington on Saturday.

The Lade Bears were led by Jade Goodwin, who finished 77th at a tine if 23:05.08. Other HCHS girls competitor included: Hayley Helton (86th, 23:24.11), Jessica Cottrell (97th, 23:45.63), Lindsay Sim (148th, 25:35.26), Kayla Deal (150th, 25:39.12), Miranda Epperson (169th, 26:29.37) and Lindsay Branson (180th, 27:38.65).

The Harlan Count High School boys also competed in the state meet and finished in 22nd place in Class AA.

The boys cross country team was lead by Hunter Middleton. Middleton came in 89th place, at a time of 18:54.70. Rounding out the HCHS boys squad was Jacob Carroll (116th, 9:25.38), Ben Graham (120th, 19:27.63), Ryan Joseph (142nd, 19:48.68), Jacob Hunter (177th, 20:42.87), Blain Grubbs (194th, 21:23.28) and Drew Sheperd (205th, 21:47.81).
