Helen Evans Griffith, 81, Evarts, passed away Friday January 13, 2012 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born April 21, 1930 in Red Bud and had lived here all of her life. Helen was a member of the Red Bud Missionary Baptist Church. Helen was a homemaker, loved quilting, playing the trumpet, and caring for her cats that she loved dearly.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Griffith Sr.; her parents, Lena Hale Evans and Dan Evans; three brothers, Roy, Bud and Winford Evans; Three sisters, Thelma Crider, Myrtle Evans and Mabel Evans Kilgore.

Survivors include her son, Everett Griffith Jr. and wife Pam, Evarts; five grandchildren, Donnie Fee, Evarts; Everett Edward Griffith, Florida; Cody Daniel Griffith, Lena Marie Griffith, and Amanda Lynn Griffith all of Evarts; five great-grandchildren, Bobby and Charlie Griffith, both of Florida; Ayson Fee, Gavin Fee and Paige Reddington, all of Evarts. One sister, Jean Barthel, Bethel , OH. A host of other family and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 until 8 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday January 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverends John Luttrell and Wayne Buchanan officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with Donnie Evans, David Evans Robert Evans Jerry Mentiata, Donnie Fee, Roy Tolliver and Everett Griffith.
