Sizemore runs record to 7-0 as Bears down Wise

Jared Sizemore improved his record to 7-0 and had plenty of offensive support with 12 hits as Harlan County won 9-3 on Thursday against Wise Central, Va.

Sizemore, a freshman left-hander, struck out 12 and walked three over six innings while scattering seven hits. Tyler Cornett pitched the final inning, giving up one hit

Anthony Jenkins, Zach Doss, Connor Leisge and Brendan Rutherford each had two hits for the 15-8 Black Bears. Scotty Bailey, Sawyer Fields, Tyler Cornett and Blake Rutherford each contributed one hit.

Harlan County took its first lead with two runs in the third inning. Fields and Leisge each had singles to open the inning and Doss beat out a bunt for a hit to load the bases. Jenkins and Brendan Rutherford each had RBI singles. The Bears added three more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, capitalizing on five Central errors in the game.

Harlan County (15-8) returns to action Saturday at Letcher Central for two games, one against Letcher Central and one against Estill County.
