The Sandwich Shoppe has now opened in the lobby of Harlan ARH Hospital.
Owner Ashley Sullivan, 27 of Loyall, said she decided to open the shop after her grandfather, Jim Roddy and his wife, Susie, purchased the Sports Cafe in Harlan. She said she wanted to expand the Sports Cafe and start her own business.
“I ran the Sports Cafe for a while and when this opportunity arose I took advantage of it,” said Sullivan.
Offering an array of sandwiches, they include grilled cheese, BLT, Sports Cafe’s famous Jac’s chicken salad served on croissant, cold turkey, ham and cheese, ham and turkey melt, smoked ham and smoked turkey, Cajun turkey bacon Swiss and club.
“My own creation is the ham and turkey melt, which has smoked ham and turkey, American cheese and a special dijonnaise sauce,” said Sullivan. “Another favorite of mine is the Cajun turkey bacon Swiss, which has Cajun turkey with bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a toasted hoagie bun.”
“All our speciality coffees are only $1 for a 12 ounce cup,” said Sullivan. “On the coffee bar we have double chocolate mocha, chocolate almond crunch, chocolate raspberry mocha, hazelnut lat-“A”, almond snooker lat-“A”, vanilla swirl lat-“A”, caramel lat-“A” and candy caramel nut.
Also offered at The Sandwich Shoppe are the famous Ho Ho cakes, chocolate strawberry cakes, cookie and creme and red velvet cakes. They also have iced coffee, V-8, Coke and Pepsi sodas, energy drinks and juices.
“We have a really good peanut butter pie we do once a week,” said Sullivan. “Next week we are bringing in salads such as pimento and pasta. We do a soup-of-the-day with a different hot soup offered each day.”
Some of the soups they offer are cheesy broccoli, spicy chili, loaded potato, and chicken and dumplings.
“We invite everyone to stop by and have some soup and a sandwich,” said Sullivan. “We have tables and chairs in the lobby for the customer’s convenience. I’m so happy to be in this location because Harlan ARH Hospital has provided us with such good service, and they believe this is another way they can extend their service to their clients and their staff.”
Open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, they may expand their hours in the future.
Sullivan and her husband, Jeff, have two children, Tucker, who is 3 years old, and Colton, who is 1 month old.
